Joppa Farm and Forest School

PROGRAMS
AT JFFS

Designed for Children Aged Three to Five Years Old by September 30th

The multiage programs at Joppa Farm and Forest School offer an outdoor experience designed to engage students in a hands-on farm and forest experience, operating completely outdoors in collaboration with the Joppa Hill Educational Farm

Our approach is inspired by the Reggio-Emilia philosophy, which honors the child as capable, curious, and full of potential. We see the environment as a powerful teacher and design our spaces and routines to foster exploration, collaboration, and creativity. Educators act as co-learners and guides, listening closely to children's interests and helping them build meaning through real-world experiences and expressive materials.

September-June

Each day at JFFS follows the rhythm of a farm day, including visiting the animals and assisting in farm activities. Forest exploration takes place in various locations on the abutting conservation land, where children hike, play, and observe the ever-changing New Hampshire ecosystem. Throughout the day, opportunities for child-led learning are woven in, including open-ended art projects, thoughtfully selected learning materials, and rich literacy experiences.
